Property Access
Older Homes and Narrow Lanes
House removals in the Cotswolds can involve very different access conditions from one address to the next. Stone cottages, period properties and older homes may have lower doorways, tighter staircases or rooms where larger furniture needs more careful handling.
Rural addresses and village properties can also sit on narrower lanes or have driveways where a large removals vehicle cannot simply be assumed to reach the front door. That is why access is discussed during the survey rather than left until moving day.
We look at the approach to the property, parking, carrying distance, entrances and internal access. Where a smaller vehicle is needed for the final approach, that can be planned in advance so the team arrives with an appropriate vehicle arrangement for the property.
The same checks apply at both ends of the move. Knowing about a narrow staircase or difficult driveway before collection allows furniture protection, loading and delivery to be organised around the actual property rather than a generic moving plan.
1
Check External Access Parking, lanes, gateways, driveways and carrying distances are considered before moving day.
2
Review Internal Access Stairs, entrances and tighter spaces can be discussed during the survey so the team knows what to expect.
3
Plan the Vehicle Approach The vehicle arrangement can be planned around the actual access available at the collection and delivery properties.
